First off, congratulations on graduating, as I can tell you put in a lot of work! (UCF is a good college as I've heard)

Second, it can seem that the animation industry is going downhill a bit, with the big corporations not taking risk or shelving animated movies that could've been great for tax-write offs... (I'm looking at you Warner Bros Discovery!)

Yet, while it may seem like theirs nothing much in big companies like Disney, Cartoon Network, etc., thanks to the internet, the indie animation market has been growing over these few years, and is only starting to become more mainstream! Looking at your portfolio, you look like a very good animator! I may not be the most skilled animator or a veteran worker, as I'm an ordinary person, but I would like to suggest that don't be afraid to be different! Indie animations such as Monkey Wrench, Lackadaisy, Ramshackle, the many works of Glitch Productions, including many more I haven't named have been amazing and unique in their own way!

These animations have inspired many creators, including me, to make something that we and others will enjoy and bring others together, and that's what makes it magical to me!

Also, don't be afraid to ask people personally for their insights and help!
Sorry if this was a bit long, but I wanted to just give you an idea and some advice from the creative side in me, best of luck to you!

thank you bro, I appreciate the love and since yesterday I've started contacting people via Instagram to ask questions about the animation industry and whatnot. I will say that i have a small group of friends who also studied animation at UCF who are still in school and I told them that if by the time they graduate I still dont have an animation job I want to become an indie studio with them. Overall I want to say that if nothing changes I think your right, I will just have to become that change. Thanks for the encouragement :v)

Many jobs like Disney, WB, Sony and others will do what's unemployed people called fake job listings. They sell the data you give for profit as stated under the terms and agreements when you sent your resume. Is it legal? Yes, is it ethical? No but they don't care.

I would suggest starting looking into gig jobs and smaller studios. Only go to big ones like Nintendo if they have a trusted following with employees. A quick look at wikiapedia for smaller studios can help broad the search when Google is known to hide them.

That's the best I can give you in terms of looking for jobs. I'm sure your teacher as told you to have a network or connections to help in your career just like my teacher told me. So try to connect with people who might have side jobs or small issues (outside the gig). I did many jobs in the game testing area that i basically know how to break each game if i tried. When my real skills are in 3D (not the same but close).

hope that helps

Appreciate the advice

I was gonna ask you to make a portfolio first, but you got that covered.

Alright. Now comes the slow and sloggy part - make stuff. Take part in collabs. Populate your portfolio but good, then start asking around. Don't forget to make contacts as you work; try and see if you can get into a small studio of trusted people first, then grow your skills and experience from there.

PS: Congrats on graduating!

thank you, Ive been wanting to take part in collabs but wasn't sure how to do it.

@TheMushMan Don't worry, it looks like the bunny mascot talking about tomatoes I saw on niconico around 2 years ago. Good luck with your animation projects!
